Peninsular Malaysia
The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for all building categories in all regions showed increases in October 2015 as compared to the previous month except for (R.C.) piling building category in region A-Northern which declined 0.4 per cent.
The BCI (with steel bars) in all regions showed changes for all building categories except for 2-4 storey (R.C.) building (flat roof) in region A-Northern, 2-4 storey (R.C.) building (pitched roof) in region A-Northern and C-Central, 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for accommodation) in region D-Johor and 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for office) in region C-Central unchanged as compared to the previous month.
The unit price index of building materials that showed changes as compared to the previous month is shown in Table 1.
Sabah
The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for all categories of building in Kota Kinabalu indicates changes as compared to the September 2015 except for timber piling category.
In Sandakan, the BCI for 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for office), single storey steel frame (building) and single storey steel frame (tower only) showed changes 0.1, -0.2 and -0.3 per cent respectively. While in Tawau, the BCI for 2-4 storey (R.C.) building (pitched roof), single storey steel frame (building) and single storey steel frame (tower only) increased 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 per cent respectively as compared to the previous month.
The BCI (with steel bars) for almost all building categories in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau showed changes as compared to September 2015. In Sandakan, single storey steel frame (building) and single storey steel frame (tower only) decreased 0.1 and 0.3 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, the BCI for timber pilling building remained in all regions in Sabah as compared to the previous month.

Sarawak
The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for several building categories in Sarawak recorded changes of 0.1 per cent as compared to September 2015.
The BCI (with steel bars) for almost all building categories in Kuching showed decreases except for timber building that is unchanged. In Sibu, the BCI for 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for accommodation) and 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for office) showed increases 0.1 per cent respectively as compared to September 2015. While in Miri, the BCI for timber building dropped 0.1 per cent.
