Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for several building categories in region B-Perak, C-Central, E-Pahang and F-Eastern posted changes of 0.1 to 0.2 per cent in August 2015 as compared to the previous month. The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for several building categories in region B, C, E and F posted changes of 0.1 to 0.2 per cent in August 2015 as compared to the previous month. While, the BCI (without steel bars for region A-Northern and D-Johor remained unchanged as compared to the previous month.

The BCI (with steel bars) for almost building categories in region A-Northern, B-Perak, C-Central and F-Eastern recorded decreases of 0.1 to 0.7 per cent except in region E-Pahang. Meanwhile, the BCI (with steel bars) in region D-Johor remained unchanged as compared to the previous month.

The unit price index of building materials that showed changes as compared to the previous month is shown in Table 1.

Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau for several building categories showed decreases except for 5 storey and above (R.C) building (for office) at Tawau which increased by 0.1 per cent as compared to the previous month.

The BCI (with steel bars) for almost building categories in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau showed decreases as compared to July 2015.

Meanwhile in Sandakan, the BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all building categories remained unchanged as compared to the previous month.

Sarawak

Overall, the Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sarawak recorded decreases for almost all building categories in all regions as compared to July 2015.
