Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all building categories of Peninsular Malaysia showed increases in April 2015 as compared to the previous month.

The unit price index for timber in April 2015 compared with March 2015 showed an increase of 0.8 points in all regions.

The unit price index of building materials recorded increases in all regions as compared to the previous month except for plywood which remained unchanged in all regions.

Sabah

Overall, the Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all building categories in Sabah recorded increases compared to the previous month except for (R.C.) piling building (with steel bars) in Tawau which showed a decrease of 0.7  per cent.

The unit price index of construction materials in almost all regions showed increases except for sanitary fitting in Tawau which decreased by 0.3 points.

Sarawak

The BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sarawak increased for all building categories as compared to the previous month.

The unit price index of construction materials that showed changes in Sarawak were ceiling materials in Kuching and Sibu which decreased by 5.1 and 0.8 points respectively meanwhile unit price index for ironmongeries in Sibu showed a decrease of 1.4 points.
