Peninsular Malaysia
The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for several building categories in almost all regions posted decreases, while several other building categories remained unchanged as compared to May 2015. However, the BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) for a few categories of building in region E-Pahang and F-Eastern showed increases.
The unit price index of building materials in almost all regions in Peninsular Malaysia remained unchanged as compared to the previous month except for some materials as shown in Table 1.
Sabah
The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for Sabah in June 2015 vary according to the type of building categories as compared to May 2015.
The BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Tawau for almost all building categories showed increases except (R.C.) piling (-0.3 per cent). However, the BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu showed decreases for almost all building categories. Meanwhile, the BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sandakan remained unchanged for almost all building categories except for 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for office) and 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for accommodation) which decreased by 0.1 per cent respectively.
Changes in unit price index for building materials by regions in Sabah are shown in Table 2.
Sarawak
The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in Miri recorded a decrease for almost all building categories as compared to May 2015. The BCI for building categories in Kuching and Sibu remained unchanged as compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the BCI (with steel bars) in Kuching and Miri showed decreases as compared to May 2015. While the BCI in Sibu remained unchanged as compared to the previous month.
Changes in unit price index for building materials by regions in Sarawak are shown in Table 3.
