Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for all building categories in all regions posted changes in July 2015 as compared to the previous month. The BCI (with steel bars) for all building categories showed increases in all regions except for (R.C.) piling in region A-Northern which showed a decrease of 0.1 per cent. 

The unit price index for timber and plywood showed an increase of 2.0 and 0.7 points respectively in all regions as compared to June 2015. The unit price index of building materials that showed changes as compared to the previous month is shown in Table 1.

                                       

                          

 

 Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sabah showed changes for almost all building categories in July 2015 except for BCI in Sandakan which remained unchanged as compared to June 2015.

Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sabah are shown in  Table 2.

                                       

 

Sarawak

Overall, the Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sarawak recorded a decrease for all building categories in all regions except for the BCI (with steel bars) in Sibu for 2-4 storey (R.C) building (flat roof) and timber building which remained unchanged as compared to June 2015.

Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sarawak are shown in Table 3.
