Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all building categories in all regions showed increases in November 2015 as compared to the previous month.

The unit price index of building materials that showed changes in November 2015 as compared to the previous month is shown in Table 1.

Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for some building categories in Sandakan and Tawau indicate increases in November 2015. On the other hand, the BCI in Kota Kinabalu indicates decreases for certain building categories.

The BCI (with steel bars) for some building categories in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau in November 2015 showed decreases as compared to the previous month. However, the BCI for some building categories in Sandakan showed increases.

Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sabah are shown in   table 2.

Sarawak

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for almost all building categories in Miri recorded increases by 0.1 per cent as compared to October 2015. In contrast, the BCI in Kuching for certain building categories showed decreases except for BCI (without steel bars) for category of 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for office) which increased by 0.1 per cent.

Meanwhile the BCI (with steel bars) in Sibu recorded decreases for all building categories.
