Peninsular Malaysia
Overall, the Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all building categories of Peninsular Malaysia in December 2014 showed positive movements except for (R.C.) Piling in region A-Northern. The unit price indices for timber in all regions increased by 0.7 points while plywood remained unchanged as compared to the previous month. Other changes were bricks and wall at region D-Johor (0.8 points) and F-Eastern (0.1 points); aggregates at region A-Northern (-0.1 points), C-Central (0.1 points) and D-Johor (-0.9 points); ceiling materials at region A-Northern (0.1 points); paints at region A-Northern (0.1 points), B-Perak (0.2 points), C-Central (0.1 points) and E-Pahang (0.9 points); sand at region C-Central (-0.1 points) and D-Johor (0.4 points); plumbing materials at region D-Johor (-0.1 points) and F-Eastern (-0.2 points); sanitary fittings at region F-Eastern (0.3 points); steel & metal sections at region A-Northern (0.1 points), B-Perak (-0.8 points) and D-Johor (0.1 points).
Sabah The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in Sabah remained unchanged except for some building categories in Sandakan; single storey (R.C) building, 5 storey and above (R.C) building (for accommodation) which recorded an increase of 0.1 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, the BCI for single storey steel frame (tower only) category in Kota Kinabalu decreased by 0.1 per cent.
The BCI (with steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau remained unchanged as compared to the previous month except for R.C piling category at Kota Kinabalu which dropped by 0.1 per cent. Meanwhile, most of the building categories in Sandakan experiencing a price decrease except for timber building, timber piling and single storey steel frame (building). Most of the unit price index in Sabah remained unchanged except for steel & metal sections at Sandakan (0.2 points). Sarawak Overall, the Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sibu showed positive movements. In contrast, the BCI in Miri registered negative movements. The unit price index that recorded changes in Sarawak were glass at Sibu (1.0 points); roofing materials at Sibu (1.2 points) and Miri (-0.5 points); paints at Kuching (0.1 points) and steel and metal sections at Miri (-0.3 points). |
