Performance Review – Indices (November 2019)

Without steel bars:

As compared to the previous month, the BCI in Peninsular Malaysia for region A, (Pulau Pinang, Kedah & Perlis) and B (Perak) increased between 0.2 and 0.7 per cent for almost all categories of building. In region C (Selangor, W.P. Kuala Lumpur, Melaka & Negeri Sembilan), the BCI decreased 0.1 per cent for three building categories which are Single storey (R.C.) building, 2-4 storey (R.C.) building (flat roof) and (R.C.) Piling. Meanwhile in region F (Terengganu & Kelantan), the BCI decreased 0.1 per cent for almost all categories of building.

The BCI in Sabah decreased between 0.1 to 1.1 per cent in Kota Kinabalu and increased between 0.1 and 0.5 per cent in Tawau for almost all categories of building.

On the other hand, the BCI in Sarawak increased between 0.1 and 1.4 per cent for almost all categories of building. However, the BCI in Kuching for Single storey steel frame (building) decreased 0.1 per cent as compared to the previous month.

With steel bars:

The BCI in region A (Pulau Pinang, Kedah & Perlis) and B (Perak) for almost all categories of building increased between 0.1 and 0.4 per cent compared to the previous month. In region C (Selangor, W.P. Kuala Lumpur, Melaka & Negeri Sembilan), the BCI for Single storey (R.C.) building decreased 0.1 per cent. Meanwhile, the BCI in region F (Terengganu & Kelantan) decreased between 0.2 and 0.5 per cent for almost all categories of building.

The BCI in Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan decreased between 0.1 and 1.6 per cent. Meanwhile, the BCI in Tawau increased between 0.1 and 0.4 per cent for almost all categories of building except for 5 Storey and above (R.C.) building (for office) and (R.C.) Piling which decreased between 0.1 and 0.7 per cent respectively.

The BCI in Sarawak showed an increase for almost all categories of building in all regions which is between 0.1 and 0.7 per cent. However, Single storey steel frame (building) decreased 0.1 per cent in Kuching as compared to the previous month.

 

Changes in Unit Price Indices (November 2019)

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region throughout Malaysia are shown in Table 1.
