The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in all regions for all building categories showed changes in January 2016  compared to the previous month except for timber piling building category.

The unit price index of building materials that showed changes in January 2016 compared to the previous month are as follows:

Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for some building categories in Sabah showed increases except for 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for office) in Sandakan which decreased by 0.1 per cent in January 2016 as compared to the previous month. 

Meanwhile the BCI (with steel bars) for some building categories showed decreases in January 2016 compared to December 2015.

Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sabah are as follows:

Sarawak

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for almost all building categories in Kuching and Miri showed increases in January 2016 compared to December 2015.

On contrary, the BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sibu recorded decreases in January 2016 for all building categories compared to the previous month except for the BCI (without steel bars) timber building.

Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sarawak are as follows:

A = Pulau Pinang, Kedah dan Perlis
B = Perak
C = Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor
D = Johor
E = Pahang
F = Kelantan and Terengganu
