Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all  categories of building in all regions showed increases in November 2016 except for region D-Johor that showed no change. In contrast, the BCI (with steel bars) for 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for accommodation) and (R.C.) piling in region F-Eastern showed a decrease compared to October 2016.

The unit price indices of building materials that showed changes (increase/decrease) in November 2016 compared to the previous month are as follows:

            

 

Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan recorded increases for several categories of buildings in November 2016. Meanwhile the BCI in Tawau remained unchanged as compared to October 2016.

Changes (increase/decrease) in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sabah are as follows:

 

Sarawak

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kuching showed decreases for all categories of buildings in November 2016. In contrast, the BCI in Sibu recorded increases for several categories of buildings as compared to October 2016. Meanwhile, the BCI in Miri showed no change compared to the previous month.

R.C. = Reinforced Concrete

*Region:

A = Pulau Pinang, Kedah and Perlis
B = Perak
C = Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor
D = Johor
E = Pahang
F = Kelantan and Terengganu
