Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all  categories of building in all regions showed increases in October 2016 except for (R.C.) piling building category in region C-Central and F-Eastern which recorded no change as compared to the previous month.

 The unit price index of building materials that showed changes in October 2016 compared to the previous month are as follows:

Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau recorded increases for several categories of buildings in October 2016 except for the BCI (with steel bars) (R.C.) piling which showed a decrease of 0.2 per cent in Tawau. In contrast, the BCI (with steel bar) in Sandakan showed decreases for almost all building categories as compared to the previous month.

Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sabah are as follows:

Sarawak

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in Kuching and Sibu showed increases for several categories of buildings in October 2016. In contrast, the BCI in Miri recorded a decline of 0.1 per cent for 2-4 storey (R.C.) building (flat roof), (R.C.) piling and single storey steel frame (building) as compared to September 2016.

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (with steel bars) in Sibu recorded an increase for all categories of buildings in October 2016. In contrast, the BCI in Kuching and Miri showed decreases for several categories of buildings as compared to the previous month.
