Performance Review – Indices (March 2022)
Without steel bars:
The BCI without steel bars for all region in Peninsular Malaysia increased between 0.1 and 1.0 per cent for almost all building categories. Building categories that recorded the highest increase was 5 Storey and Above Reinforced Concrete (R.C.) Building (For Office), Single Storey (R.C.) Building, 2−4 Storey (R.C.) Building (Flat Roof) and 2−4 Storey (R.C.) Building (Pitched Roof) in Terengganu, Kelantan, Selangor, W.P. Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.
The BCI without steel bars in Sabah and Sarawak increased between 0.1 and 2.6 per cent for almost all categories of building. Building categories with highest increase in Sabah and Sarawak were 5 Storey and Above (R.C) Building (For Office) and 5 Storey and Above (R.C.) Building (For Accommodation) in Sandakan and (R.C.) Piling in Kuching.
With steel bars:
The BCI with steel bars for all region in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak increased between 0.1 and 1.9 per cent for almost all building categories. Building categories that recorded the highest increase in Peninsular Malaysia was 5 Storey and Above (R.C.) Building (For Office) in Selangor, W.P. Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan with 1.6 per cent.
Sandakan in Sabah with 0.9 per cent for 5 Storey and Above (R.C.) Building (For Accommodation) and 5 Storey and Above (R.C.) Building (For Office) and Kuching in Sarawak with 1.9 per cent for (R.C.) Piling.
Changes in Unit Price Indices (March 2022)
The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region across Malaysia are shown in Table 1.
