Performance Review – Indices (February 2022)

Without steel bars:

The BCI without steel bars for all region in Peninsular Malaysia increased between 0.3 and 1.5 per cent for almost all building categories. Building categories that recorded the highest increase was 2-4 Storey Reinforced Concrete (R.C) Building (Flat Roof) with 1.5 per cent in Selangor, W.P. Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

Meanwhile, BCI without steel bars in Sabah and Sarawak increased between0.1 and 2.8 per cent for almost all categories of building. Building categories with highest increase in Sabah and Sarawak were 5 Storey and above (R.C) Building (for office) in Kota Kinabalu and R.C Piling in Sibu.

With steel bars:

The BCI with steel bars for all region in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak increased between 0.3 and 5.2 per cent for almost all building categories. Building categories that recorded the highest increase in Peninsular Malaysia were 5 Storey and Above (R.C.) Building (For Accommodation) and 5 Storey and Above (R.C.) Building (For Office) in Johor with 5.2 per cent, Kota Kinabalu in Sabah with 1.7 per cent for almost all building categories and Sibu in Sarawak with 5.8 per cent for R.C Piling.

Changes in Unit Price Indices (February 2022)

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region across Malaysia are shown in  Table 1.
