Performance Review – Indices (January 2022)

Without steel bars:

The BCI for all region in Peninsular Malaysia recorded an increase between 0.5 and 3.9 per cent for all building categories in January 2022 as compared to the previous month.

The BCI in all regions in Sabah increased between 0.1 and 3.9 per cent for all categories of building. Meanwhile, the BCI in Sarawak showed an increase between 0.1 and 3.4 per cent in January 2022 for all categories of building except for Timber Building and Reinforced Concrete (R.C.) Piling in Sibu that showed decrease of 0.4 and 0.1 per cent respectively.

With steel bars:

The BCI with steel bars for all regions in Peninsular Malaysia increased between 0.2 to 3.9 per cent for all building categories in January 2022 as compared to the preceding month.

Meanwhile, the BCI in Sabah and Sarawak increased between 0.1 and 3.3 per cent for all categories of building except for Timber Building and R.C Piling in Sibu that showed decrease of 0.5 and 0.1 per cent respectively.

Changes in Unit Price Indices (January 2022)

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region across Malaysia are shown in  Table 1.
