Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in region A-Northern, B-Perak, C-Central, D-Johor and E-Pahang for all categories of building increased between 0.1 and 1.0 per cent in December 2018. In contrast, the BCI in region F-Eastern decreased between 0.1 and 0.2 per cent except for Timber building and Timber piling, increased between 1.0 and 1.2 per cent respectively as compared to the previous month.  

The BCI (with steel bars) in region D-Johor and E-Pahang increased between 0.1 and 1.0 per cent in December 2018. In contrast, the BCI in region A-Northern, B-Perak, C-Central and F-Eastern showed decreases except for Timber building and Timber piling, increased between 0.9 and 1.0 per cent respectively as compared to the previous month.

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by regions in Peninsular Malaysia are shown in Table 1.

Sabah

The BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) for almost all categories of building in all regions increased between 0.1 and 1.0 per cent in December 2018 as compared to the previous month.

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region in Sabah are shown in Table 2.

Sarawak

The BCI (without steel bars and with steel bars) for all categories of building in Kuching increased between 0.1 and 0.4 per cent in December 2018 as compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the BCI in Sibu and Miri remained unchange as compared to the previous month.   

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region in Sarawak are shown in Table 3.
