PERFORMANCE OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION INDEX The Industrial Production Index (IPI) went up by 6.9% in March 2015 as compared to the same month in the previous year. The increase in March 2015 was due to the positive growth in all indices: Manufacturing (6.3%), Mining (9.2%) and Electricity (3.8%). The IPI in February 2015 remained unchanged by 5.2% year-on-year. In seasonally adjusted terms, the IPI in March 2015 increase by 0.6% month-on-month following an increase in the indices: Manufacturing (1.2%), Mining (1.2%) and Electricity (2.3%).

PERFORMANCE OF MANUFACTURING SECTOR Year-on-year, Manufacturing output rose by 6.3% in March 2015 after increasing of 4.0% in February 2015. The major sub-sectors which increased in March 2015 were: Electrical and Electronics Products (13.0%); Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products (4.5%) and Non-metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal and Fabricated Metal Products (5.6%). On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, Manufacturing output increased by 1.2% in March 2015. |
PERFORMANCE OF MINING SECTOR
The Mining sector output registered a strong growth of 9.2% in March 2015 compared to the same month in 2014. This growth was contributed by the increase of Crude Oil index by 20.3%. The Natural Gas index, however, declined by 2.4%. As against February 2015, seasonally adjusted output for the Mining sector increased by 1.2%. |

PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRICITY SECTOR
The Electricity sector output expanded by 3.8% in March 2015 on yearly basis. In seasonally adjusted terms, Electricity sector output increased by 2.3% in March 2015 as compared to the previous month. |
PERFORMANCE OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION INDEX FOR THE FIRST QUARTER 2015

For the first quarter 2015, Malaysia's Industrial Production Index expanded by 6.4% compared with the same quarter of the previous year. The increase was due to the rise in all three indices: Manufacturing (5.6%); Mining (8.9%);and Electricity (4.0%). |
