PERFORMANCE IN FEBRUARY 2015
 
   
1. SALES VALUE    

The sales value of the Manufacturing sector in February 2015 decreased by 2.6% (RM1.4 billion) to record RM52.1 billion as compared to RM53.5 billion reported a year ago. Meanwhile, month-on-month basis, the sales value has decreased by 9.0% (RM5.1 billion) compared with the preceding month. The sales value in January 2015 has been revised based on latest data available.

 

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month, the sales value in February 2015 decreased by 2.8%. Year-on-year, the decrease in sales value in February 2015 was due to the decrease in 51 of 138 industries surveyed. Table A shows the five (5) main industries that recorded decrease in sales value on yearly basis.

2. NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES   3. SALARIES & WAGES

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in February 2015 was 1,030,484 persons, an increase of 0.9% or 8,999 persons as compared to 1,021,485 persons in February 2014. Meanwhile, month-on-month basis, the number of employees decreased by 0.4% compared with the preceding month. The total employees in January 2015 has been revised to record 1,034,589 persons.

 

Year-on-year basis, salaries & wages paid in February 2015 has increased by 7.2% (RM200.2 million) as compared with the corresponding month of the previous year. Meanwhile, month-on-month basis, the total amount paid in February 2015, has decreased by 0.4% (RM12.1 million) to register RM2,973.9 million. Salaries & wages paid in January 2015 has been revised to record RM2,986.0 million.



 
4. AVERAGE SALARIES & WAGES PER EMPLOYEE   5. PRODUCTIVITY

The average salaries & wages paid per employee increased by 6.3% in February 2015 as compared to the same month in 2014. Meanwhile, average salaries & wages per employee maintained to register RM2,886 compared to previous month.

 

Productivity or average sales value per employee in February 2015 declined by 3.5% as compared with the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, productivity in February 2015 has decreased by 8.6% month-on-month to register RM50,518. Productivity in January 2015 has been revised to RM55,285.



 
6. PERFORMANCE  IN THE PERIOD JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2015

During January – February 2015,  the sales value of the Manufacturing sector rose by 0.1% to register RM109.3 billion. The number of employees engaged during the period, increased by 0.9% to register 1,030,484 persons.

 

Cumulatively, productivity has decreased by 0.7% to record RM106,023 as shown in Table B.
