PERFORMANCE OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION INDEX The Industrial Production Index (IPI) grew by 5.2% in February 2015 compared to the same month in the previous year. The increase in February was due to the positive growth in all indices: Manufacturing (4.0%), Mining (9.2%) and Electricity (1.9%). The IPI in January 2015 remained unchanged at 7.0% year-on-year.
In seasonally adjusted terms, the IPI in February 2015 decreased by 0.1% month-on-month following a decline in the indices: Manufacturing (0.3%), Mining (0.3%) and Electricity (2.6%). |

PERFORMANCE OF MANUFACTURING SECTOR Year-on-year, Manufacturing output increased by 4.0% in February 2015 after a strong growth of 6.6% in January 2015. The sub-sectors which shown an increase in February 2015 were: Electrical and Electronics Products (8.4%); Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products (4.1%); and Transport Equipment and Other Manufactures Products (8.7%). On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, Manufacturing output declined by 0.3% in February 2015.

PERFORMANCE OF MINING SECTOR The Mining sector output registered a positive growth of 9.2% in February 2015 compared to the same month in 2014. This strong growth was contributed by the increase of Crude Oil index by 19.7%. The Natural Gas index, however, declined by 1.6%. As against January 2015, seasonally adjusted output for the Mining sector decreased by 0.3%. |

PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRICITY SECTOR The Electricity sector output grew by 1.9% in February 2015 on yearly basis. In seasonally adjusted terms, Electricity sector output contracted by 2.6% in February 2015 compared to the previous month. |
PERFORMANCE OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION INDEX FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY TO FEBRUARY 2015

Malaysia’s Industrial Production Index for the period of January to February 2015 expanded 6.1% as compared to the same period in the previous year. The expansion was contributed by the increase of all indices: Manufacturing (5.3%), Mining (8.8%) and Electricity (4.1%). |
