Peninsular Malaysia

The BCI (with steel bars) in region E-Pahang recorded an increase of 0.1 per cent for single storey (R.C) building, 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for accommodation) and 5 storey and above (R.C.) building (for office) in May 2018. In contrast, the BCI for several categories of building in region A-Northern, B-Perak, C-Central and F-Eastern decreased as compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the BCI in region D-Johor remained unchange. 

The unit price indices of building materials that showed changes as compared to the previous month are shown in Table 1:

              

 

Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu dan Sandakan showed changes for several categories of building in May 2018. Meanwhile, the BCI in Tawau remained unchange as compared to the previous month.

The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sabah are shown in Table 2.

             

                                 

Sarawak

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in all regions for all categories of building remained unchange in May 2018 as compared to the previous month except for 2-4 storey (R.C.) building (flat roof) in Sibu increased by 0.1 per cent.

The BCI (with steel bars) for several categories of building in Kuching and Sibu decreased in May 2018. Meanwhile, the BCI in Miri remained unchange as compared to the previous month.

The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sarawak are as follows:

R.C. = Reinforced Concrete

B = Perak
C = Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor
D = Johor
E = Pahang
F = Kelantan and Terengganu
