Peninsular Malaysia

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) for several category of building in almost all regions showed increases in April 2018 except region D-Johor which was unchanged as compared to March 2018.

The BCI (with steel bars) in region C-Central, E-Pahang and F-Eastern showed increases for several category of building in April 2018. Meanwhile, the BCI in region A-Northen, B-Perak and D-Johor remained unchanged except for (R.C.) piling in region A-Northen and B-Perak decreased by 0.1 and 0.2 per cent respectively as compared to the previous month. 

The unit price indices of building materials that showed changes as compared to the previous month are as follows:

Sabah

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sabah showed increases for almost all building categories in April 2018 except the BCI in Tawau which was unchanged as compared to the previous month.           

The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sabah are shown in Table 2.

Sarawak

The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kuching and Sibu recorded increases for almost all building categories in April 2018. Meanwhile, the BCI in Miri remained unchanged as compared to the previous month.

The BCI (with steel bars) in Kuching showed increases for almost all building categories in April 2018. In contrast, the BCI in Sibu showed decreases. Meanwhile the BCI in Miri remained unchanged as compared to the previous month.                      

The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sarawak are as follows:

C = Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor
D = Johor
E = Pahang
