Performance Review – Indices (June 2021)
Without steel bars:
As compared to the previous month, the BCI for all region in Peninsular Malaysia increased between 0.2 and 1.1 per cent for almost all building categories.
The BCI in Kota Kinabalu increased between 0.1 and 4.9 per cent for almost all categories of building. Building categories that recorded the highest increase was Single Storey Steel Frame (Tower only) with 4.9 per cent, followed by Single Storey Steel Frame (Building). Meanwhile, the BCI in Sandakan and Tawau also increased between 0.1 and 0.5 per cent for almost all building categories.
The BCI in Kuching increased between 0.6 and 1.4 per cent for almost all building categories.
With steel bars:
The BCI for all region in Peninsular Malaysia increased between 0.2 and 3.2 per cent for almost all building categories.
The BCI for all region in Sabah also increased between 0.1 and 5.0 per cent for almost all building categories.
The BCI in Kuching depicted an upward trend between 0.8 and 2.6 per cent for almost all categories of building. Building categories that recorded the highest increase in Kuching was (R.C.) Piling with 2.6 per cent, followed by Single Storey (R.C.) Building with 2.0 per cent.
Changes in Unit Price Indices (June 2021)
The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region across Malaysia are shown in Table 1.
