Natural Rubber (NR) decreased by 7.4 per cent in March 2017

Production of NR in March 2017 decreased by  7.4 per cent to  79,966 tonnes as compared to previous month. The main contributor of NR production is from smallholding sector which is more than  90 per cent.

Average monthly price of Latex Concentrate and Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 were  731.80 sen per kilogramme and  863.07 sen per kilogramme, decreased by  8.3 per cent and  10.7 per cent respectively from February 2017.

In March 2017, exports of NR increased by  2.7 per cent to  59,520 tonnes as compared to February 2017. Five main destinations of NR exports were China, Germany, Iran, Finland and Turkey.

In the meantime, domestic consumption of NR increased by  15.0 per cent to  41,727 tonnes within the same period. Rubber gloves industry remains as the main domestic consumer of over  70 per cent.

At the end of March 2017, level of NR stocks went up by  4.1 per cent to  256,692 tonnes.
