Natural Rubber (NR) increased by 29.5 per cent in February 2017

Production of NR in February 2017 increased by  29.5 percent to  86,403 tonnes as compared to previous month. The main contributor of NR production is from smallholding sector which is more than  90 per cent. 

Average monthly price of Latex Concentrate and Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 were  798.33 sen per kilogramme and  966.94 sen per kilogramme, rose by  12.3 per cent and  1.0 per cent respectively from January 2017.

In February 2017, exports of NR increased by  15.0 per cent to  57,959 tonnes as compared to January 2017. Five main destinations of NR exports were China, Germany, Iran, U.S.A. and Finland.

In the meantime, domestic consumption of natural rubber declined by  7.9 per cent to  36,528 tonnes within the same period. Rubber gloves industry remain as the main domestic consumer of over  70 per cent.

At the end of February 2017, level of NR stocks went up by  11.3 per cent to  246,599 tonnes.
