Natural Rubber (NR) production increased by 23.8 per cent in June 2023 (29,867 tonnes) as compared to May 2023 (24,126 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR decreased by 3.9 per cent (June 2022: 31,083 tonnes). Production of NR in June 2023 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (85.9%) as compared to estates sector (14.1%).
Total stocks of NR in June 2023 decreased by 5.4 per cent to 159,742 tonnes as compared to 168,806 tonnes in May 2023. Rubber processors factory contributed 88.8 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (11.1%) and rubber estates (0.2%).
Exports of Malaysia's NR amounted to 48,857 tonnes in June 2023, increased 31.8 per cent as against May 2023 (37,062 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 50.6 per cent of total exports in June 2023 followed by Germany (7.8%), U.S.A (4.9%), Pakistan (3.1%) and Iran (2.5%).
Analysis of the average monthly price showed that Concentrated Latex recorded an increase of 1.8 per cent (June 2023: 497.70 sen per kg; May 2023: 488.76 sen per kg) while Scrap increased by 0.8 per cent (June 2023: 481.91 sen per kg; May 2023: 478.02 sen per kg). Prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) increased between 0.4 per cent to 1.8 per cent.
The performance of the second
quarter of 2023 showed natural rubber production decreased by 7.6 per cent to 77,453
tonnes as compared to 83,848 tonnes in the first quarter of 2023. The annual
performance of Malaysia's natural rubber production in the second quarter of
2023 recorded an increase of 3.8 per cent as compared to 2022 (74,635 tonnes).
