Natural Rubber (NR) production decreased by 13.7 per cent in April 2023 (23,460 tonnes) as compared to March 2023 (27,188 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR increased by 3.4 per cent (April 2022: 22,695 tonnes). Production of NR in April 2023 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (87.7%) as compared to estates sector (12.3%).
Total stocks of NR in April 2023 decreased
by 4.5 per cent to 194,527 tonnes as compared to 203,757 tonnes in March 2023.
Rubber processors factory contributed 91.2 per cent of the stocks followed by
rubber consumers factory (8.7%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia's NR amounted to 37,728 tonnes in April 2023, decreased 17.6 per cent as against March 2023 (45,789 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 48.4 per cent of total exports in April 2023 followed by Germany (11.7%), Pakistan (5.6%), Türkiye (3.9%) and Portugal (3.3%).
Analysis of the average monthly price showed that
Latex Concentrated recorded a decrease
of 6.6 per cent (April 2023: 495.00 sen per kg; March 2023: 530.11 sen per kg) while Scrap decreased by 0.7 per cent
(April 2023: 465.21 sen per kg; March 2023: 468.68 sen per kg). Prices for
all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) decreased between 0.1 per cent to 6.6 per cent.
