Natural Rubber (NR) production decreased by 7.6 per cent in February 2023 (27,209 tonnes) as compared to January 2023 (29,451 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR decreased by 2.7 per cent (February 2022: 27,950 tonnes). The production of NR in February 2023 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (87.3%) as compared to estates sector (12.7%).
Total stocks of NR in February 2023 decreased by 1.5 per cent to 191,636 tonnes as compared to 194,563 tonnes in January 2023. Rubber processors factory contributed 90.6 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (9.3%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia's NR amounted to 48,393 tonnes in February 2023, increased 18.4 per cent as against January 2023 (40,867 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 56.9 per cent of total exports in February 2023 followed by Germany (7.3%), Türkiye (3.6%), the United States of America (2.1%) and Egypt (1.5%).
Analysis of the average monthly price showed that
Latex Concentrated recorded an increase
of 7.3 per cent (February 2023: 538.55 sen per kg; January 2023: 502.05 sen per kg) while Scrap increased by 2.3 per cent
(February 2023: 474.50 sen per kg; January 2023: 463.84
sen per kg). Prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) increased between 1.2 per cent to 7.2 per cent.
