Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales value expanded 23.8 per cent in July 2022, amounted to RM148.4 billion

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales value in July 2022 stood at RM148.4 billion, grew 23.8 per cent as compared to the same month in 2021. The growth in sales value for July 2022 was driven by the Electrical & Electronics Products subsector (26.1%), Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products subsector (19.1%) and Non-Metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal & Fabricated Metal Products subsector (44.2%).

The total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in July 2022 was 2,300,906 persons, augmented 4.1 per cent as compared to 2,210,084 persons in July 2021. Meanwhile, the salaries & wages paid was also reported to have raised by 7.1 per cent or RM513.8 million amounting to RM7,708.6 million as against the same month of the preceding year.

The sales value per employee rose by 18.9 per cent to record RM64,510 as compared with the same month in 2021 while the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,350.

For the period of January to July 2022, the sales value of the Manufacturing sector surged by 16.3 per cent to RM1,007.2 billion as compared to the same period in 2021. The number of employees increased 4.1 per cent to 2.30 million persons while salaries & wages expanded 5.0 per cent to RM54.5 billion. Meanwhile, sales value per employee recorded RM437,749 for similar period of year 2022 with a growth of 11.7 per cent year on year.
