Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales continued to record a double-digit growth of 13.2 per cent with RM147.9 billion in April 2022

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales value in April 2022 stood at RM147.9 billion, grew 13.2 per cent as compared to the previous year. The rise in sales value in April 2022 was driven by the increase in Electrical & Electronics Products (21.9%), Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (14.9%) and Petroleum Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products (6.7%). Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value increased 2.3 per cent.

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in April 2022 was 2,291,470 persons, an increase of 2.5 per cent as compared to 2,235,004 persons in April 2021. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM7,714.8 million, increased by 4.5 per cent or RM329.2 million in April 2022 as against the same month of the preceding year.

The sales value per employee rose by 10.4 per cent to record RM64,562 as compared with the same month in 2021. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,367 in April 2022.

The sales value of the Manufacturing sector in the period January to April 2022 registered an increase of 12.9 per cent to RM563.2 billion as compared to the same period of 2021. The number of employees engaged during the period rose by 2.5 per cent to register 2,291,470 persons while salaries & wages paid went up by 4.2 per cent to RM31.2 billion. The sales value per employee during the reference period rose by 10.1 per cent to record RM245,799.
