Manufacturing sector registered a sales value of RM63.9 billion in July 2017
Malaysia’s July manufacturing sales continues to record a strong growth of 22.2 per cent, rising to RM63.9 billion as compared to RM52.3 billion reported a year ago.
Year-on-year, the significant increase in sales value in July 2017 was due to the increase in Electrical and Electronics Products (27.6%) Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products (24.0%) and Non-metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal and Fabricated Metal Products (10.2%). These three sub-sectors contributed 80.4 per cent to the sales value of the manufacturing sector.
Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in July 2017 was 1,054,593 persons, an increase of 2.9 per cent or 29,770 persons as compared to 1,024,823 persons in July 2016.
Salaries & wages paid rose 11.3 per cent (RM356.4 million) to record RM3,519.1 million, thus registering an average salaries & wages per employee of RM3,337 in July 2017.
Sales value per employee gain 18.7 per cent to record RM60,563 as compared with the same month of the previous year.
