Manufacturing sector registered a sales value of RM62.3 billion in June 2017
Malaysia’s June manufacturing sales continues to record a strong growth of 11.5 per cent, rising to RM62.3 billion as compared to RM55.8 billion reported a year ago.
Year-on-year, the significant increase in sales value in June 2017 was due to the increase in Electrical and Electronics Products (15.4%) Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products (15.3%) and Non-metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal and Fabricated Metal Products (5.7%). These three sub-sectors contributed 80.6 per cent to the sales value of the manufacturing sector.
Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in June 2017 was 1,048,220 persons, an increase of 2.5 per cent or 25,338 persons as compared to 1,022,882 persons in June 2016.
Salaries & wages paid rose 10.0 per cent (RM317.9 million) to record RM3,499.5 million, thus registering an average salaries & wages per employee of RM3,338 in June 2017.
Sales value per employee gain 8.8 per cent to record RM59,393 as compared with the same month of the previous year.
