National Statistical Office (NSO) or official statistics agency for every country in the world always provided comprehensive information towards the development of their respective countries. Provided statistics can give the best direction in measuring the country progress, especially to policymakers, for instance, in monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators at national, regional and international levels. As a matter of fact, the 64th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has declared the World Statistics Day to be celebrated on 20 October 2010. The objective of this celebration is to glimpse through the history of world’s official statistic development and the role of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) since its establishment in 1947. World Statistics Day has been celebrated in 103 countries including Malaysia. Subsequently, the 69th UNGA has set the 2nd World Statistics Day on 20 October 2015 and will celebrate every five years on 20 October. Accordance with UNGA's resolution, World Statistics Day celebration in Malaysia has been celebrated since 2010 by organizing activities that involved various levels of community. Declaration of National Statistics Day will celebrate annually in tandem with the celebration at global, regional as well as other countries. Several countries also held the celebration of the National Statistics Day every year such as the Republic of Slovenia (24 January), India (29 June), Qatar (12 October), the European Union (20 October), Bermuda (October) and Africa (18 November). Meanwhile, Philippines held a National Statistics Month celebration in October each year. Various programmes have been prepared with the involvement of international and local stakeholders.
