Natural Rubber (NR) production increased by 4.7 per cent in September 2023 (32,773 tonnes) as compared to August 2023 (31,309 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR decreased by 7.6 per cent (September 2022: 35,460 tonnes). Production of NR in September 2023 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (85.6%) as compared to estates sector (14.4%).
Total stocks of NR in September 2023 increased by 7.7 per cent to 154,103 tonnes as compared to 143,116 tonnes in August 2023. Rubber processors factory contributed 88.4 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (11.5%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia's NR amounted to 57,028 tonnes in September 2023, decreased 0.8 per cent as against August 2023 (57,488 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 45.7 per cent of total exports in September 2023 followed by Germany (5.3%), Pakistan (5.3%), Portugal (2.9%) and Türkiye (2.3%).
Analysis of the average monthly price showed that Concentrated Latex recorded an increase of 2.1 per cent (September 2023: 481.08 sen per kg; August 2023: 471.09 sen per kg) while Scrap increased by 13.8 per cent (September 2023: 525.59 sen per kg; August 2023: 462.05 sen per kg). Prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) increased between 2.1 per cent to 11.3 per cent.
The performance of the third
quarter of 2023 showed natural rubber production increased by 19.6 per cent to 92,615
tonnes as compared to 77,453 tonnes in the second quarter of 2023. The annual
performance of Malaysia's natural rubber production in the third quarter of
2023 recorded a decrease of 16.5 per cent as compared to the third quarter 2022 (110,969
tonnes).
