Overview
The Index of Distributive Trade posted a growth of 6.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2015 as compared to the same quarter of 2014. The growth was supported by the increase in Wholesale Trade (8.6%), Motor Vehicles (4.5%) and Retail Trade (4.2%) sub-sectors.
The seasonally adjusted Index of Distributive Trade went up by 3.6 per cent as againt the third quarter of 2015. The increase was driven by Retail Trade (5.3%), Motor Vehicles (2.9%) and Wholesale Trade (2.4%) sub-sectors.

Performance of Wholesale Trade Sub-sector
The index of Wholesale Trade expanded by 8.6 per cent in the fourth quarter 2015 over the fourth quarter 2014. The increase was contributed by Other Specialised Wholesale (18.2%), Wholesale on a Fee or Contract Basis (6.4%) and Wholesale of Agricultural Raw Materials and Live Animals (5.6%).
Performance of Retail Trade Sub-sector
In the fourth quarter of 2015, the Retail Trade sub-sector increased by 4.2 per cent year-on-year. The growth was supported by Retail Sale of Automotive Fuel in Specialised Stores (23.2%), Retail Sale of Information and Communications Equipment in Specialised Stores (6.6%) and Retail Sale of Cultural and Recreation Goods in Specialised Stores (5.4%).
Performance of Motor Vehicles Sub-sector
The index of Motor Vehicles which includes Parts and Accessories went up by 4.5 per cent in the fourth quarter 2015 as compared to the same quarter of 2014. The growth was driven by Sale of Motor Vehicles (9.7%) and Sale of Motor Vehicles Parts and Accessories (2.3%).
