The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has declared World Statistics Day to be celebrated on 20 October 2010. Next, the Second World Statistics Day is celebrated on 20 October 2015 and is celebrated every five years on 20 October. The celebration of World Statistics Day in Malaysia has been celebrated since 2010 by holding activities that include various levels of society.

For the first time in 2017, National Statistics Day has been declared and celebrated annually on every 20 October starting 20 October 2017.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) held MyStats Day celebrations in 2017, 2018 and 2019 with various activities throughout the year. The celebration in 2019 was celebrated together with the celebration of 70 years of existence of DOSM as the country's official statistics generator.

The celebration of National Statistics Day (MyStats Day) 2020 is very meaningful because it will be celebrated together with World Statistics Day (World Statistics Day) on 20 October 2020. To fuel the celebration, the 51st United Nations Statistics Commission (UNSC) has finalized a new logo and chose the slogan "Connecting The World With Data We Can Trust" as the celebration theme this time.

Increase consumer and public awareness about the 2020 Population and Housing Census program

Increase awareness and understanding among the statistical community regarding the importance of statistics to the development and well-being of the people

Strengthen strategic collaboration with key users and other agencies to ensure the production of official statistics that are more integrity and reliable

Recognize the contribution of the statistical community in Malaysia, especially in the management of official statistics based on the principles of service integrity and professionalism

Getting closer to the people to ensure that these efforts to produce official statistics get better and continuous support

Become an added value to the statistical community by participating in various activities that have been planned
