“Malaysian Affiliates' Turnover
Grew 2.1% to RM341.0 Billion in 2022.”
Malaysia recorded a total of 2,360 affiliates in 2022, reflecting a 1.4 per cent increase from 2,328 affiliates in 2021.
Malaysian affiliates abroad recorded 2.1 per cent year-on-year increase in turnover, reaching a total of RM341.0 billion (2021: RM334.1 billion).
The number of employees also increased from 412,295 (2021) to 417,012 persons (2022). This growth contributed to a 4.6 per cent surge in total compensation of employees, amounting RM25.1 billion compared to the previous year.
In terms of the sectoral distribution, the Services sector continued to dominate Malaysia's Outward FATS in 2022, contributing 67.8 per cent to the annual turnover with RM231.6 billion. It was followed by sector of Manufacturing (RM58.3 billion), Mining & quarrying (RM29.3 billion), Agriculture (RM15.9 billion) and Construction (RM5.9 billion).
Across regions, Asia generated the highest turnover with a value of RM201.1 billion, nearly 60 per cent of the overall turnover. The leading countries for turnover were Indonesia (RM48.6 billion), Singapore (RM48.1 billion) and United Kingdom (RM43.8 billion).
