Natural rubber production increased by 48.9 per cent in June 2022 (31,369 tonnes) as compared to May 2022 (21,073 tonnes). Meanwhile year-on-year comparison showed that the production of natural rubber decreased by 19.2 per cent (June 2021: 38,807 tonnes). Production of natural rubber in June 2022 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (87.2%) as compared to estates sector (12.8%).

Total stocks of natural rubber in June 2022 decreased by 3.0 per cent to 280,826 tonnes as compared to 289,429 tonnes in May 2022. Rubber processors factory contributed 92.9 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (7.0%) and rubber  estates (0.1%).

Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber amounted to 58,556 tonnes in June 2022, increased 35.6 per cent as against May 2022 (43,194 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for natural rubber exports which accounted 39.8 per cent of total exports in June 2022 followed by the United States of America (5.8%), Germany (5.3%), Finland (3.8%) and Turkey (2.7%). The exports performance was contributed by natural rubber-based product such as gloves, tyre, tube, rubber thread and condom. Gloves were the main exports of rubber-based products with a value of RM3.2 billion in June 2022, an increase of 98.5 per cent as compared to May 2022 (RM1.6 billion).

Analysis of the average monthly price showed that Latex Concentrated recorded a  decrease of 5.7 per cent (June 2022: 632.69 sen per kg, May 2022: 670.69 sen per kg) while, for type of Scrap increased by 2.9 per cent (June 2022: 582.21 sen per kg, May 2022: 565.84 sen per kg). The movement of prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) is mixed with a decline of 5.6 per cent and increase up to 1.2 per cent. World Bank Commodity Price Data reported prices for TSR 20 (Technically Specified Rubber) and SGP/MYS (Singapore/Malaysia) increased 1.2 per cent (from USD1.62/kg to USD1.64/kg) and decreased 1.4 per cent (from USD2.06/kg to USD2.03/kg) respectively.

Meanwhile, the performance of the second quarter of 2022 showed natural rubber production declined by 25.8 per cent to 74,940 tonnes as compared to 101,045 tonnes in the first quarter of 2022. The annual performance of Malaysia's natural rubber production in the second quarter of 2022 recorded a decreased of 16.7 per cent as compared to 2021 (89,985 tonnes).
