Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales recorded RM126.5 billion, increased by 6.8 per cent in August 2021

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales in August 2021 stood at RM126.5 billion, grew 6.8 per cent as compared to the same month of the previous year. The rise in sales value was driven by the Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products (31.4%), the Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (7.0%) and the Electrical & Electronics Products (6.9%) .  Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value increased 5.5 per cent.

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in August 2021 was 2,213,715 persons, an increase of 1.0 per cent as compared to 2,190,787 persons in August 2020. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM7,230.1 million, increased by 1.7 per cent or RM117.5 million in August 2021 as against the same month of the preceding year.

The sales value per employee increased by 5.7 per cent to record RM57,160 as compared with the same month in 2020. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,266 in August 2021.
