Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales grew by 4.7 per cent to RM73.7 billion in August 2019

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales grew by 4.7 per cent in August 2019 to register at RM73.7 billion as compared to RM70.4 billion reported a year ago. The year-on-year growth registered in sales value in August 2019 was driven by the increase in Non-Metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal & Fabricated Metal Products (6.6%), Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products (4.1%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (3.6%).

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in August 2019 was 1,088,547 persons, an increase of 1.3 per cent or 14,448 persons as compared to 1,074,099 persons in August 2018. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM4,002.4 million, went up 3.3 per cent or RM129.7 million in August 2019 as against the same month of the preceding year.

The sales value per employee grew by 3.3 per cent to record RM67,681 as compared with the same month in 2018. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,677 in August 2019.
