Export Import Statistics By State, June 2023
- Malaysia’s total trade for June 2023 amounted to RM222.1 billion with exports and imports recorded RM124.0 billion and RM98.2 billion, respectively.
- Exports was valued at RM124.0 billion in June 2023, decreased RM20.3 billion (-14.1%) as compared to the same month of the previous year. The decrease in exports was attributed to the lower exports in most states such as Johor (-RM9.4 billion), Sarawak (-RM4.6 billion), Selangor (-RM3.5 billion), Sabah (-RM1.1 billion), Perak (-RM847.9 million), Terengganu (-RM380.1 million), Kelantan (-RM269.6 million), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (-RM78.8 million) and Perlis (-RM13.7 million). However, exports increased in Pulau Pinang by RM6.4 billion, W.P. Labuan (+RM950.5 million), Kedah (+RM882.6 million), Pahang (+RM336.8 million), Melaka (+RM209.7 million) and Negeri Sembilan (+RM81.4 million).
- Pulau Pinang remained as the top exporter with 33.2 per cent share, followed by Johor (20.8%), Selangor (17.3%), Sarawak (6.3%) and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (4.4%).
- At the same time, imports also decreased RM22.9 billion (-18.9%) inJune 2023 as compared to the same month in 2022. The decrease in imports was contributed by the lower imports in most states such as Johor(-RM10.6 billion), Selangor (-RM7.7 billion), Pulau Pinang (-RM6.7 billion), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (-RM1.6 billion), Kedah (-RM1.4 billion), Negeri Sembilan (-RM1.0 billion), Sarawak (-RM807.3 million), Perak (-RM285.8 million), W.P. Labuan (-RM34.8 million) and Kelantan (-RM8.8 million).
- However, imports increased in Melaka by RM5.1 bilion, Terengganu (+RM191.1 million), Perlis (+RM12.7 million), Sabah (+RM7.7 million) and Pahang (+RM5.7 million). Selangor continued to dominate Malaysia’s imports with a share of 25.8 per cent, followed by Johor (21.2%), Pulau Pinang (19.8%), Melaka (7.2%) and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (7.1%).
