S
surveying services
Refers to the provision of surveying services for others on a fee or contract basis. Included are land & quantity surveying services provided by establishments operated by persons registered with the Board of Land Surveyors and Board of Quantity Surveyors maintained under the Licensed Land Surveyors Act, 1958 (Revised 1991) and the registration of Quantity Surveyors Act, 1967 (Revised 1992).

suspended solids
Suspended Solids (SS) is caused by soil erosion and sedimentation from the development in highlands and clearance of land for logging and mining. It is resulted in the increase of SS and affects water quality in the river basins.

swamp
Type of wetland with water standing permanently or for a considerable period of time and with a dense cover of native vegetation. Swamps may be freshwater or saltwater, and tidal or non-tidal.
