Real Income
Real income is obtained by deflating any income flow by a price index in order to measure the purchasing power of the item in question over a designated numeraire set of goods and services.

real interest
Real interest is the difference between an actual payment of nominal interest and a payment equal to the loss of purchasing power on the monetary value of the principal during the accounting period.

red tide
Proliferation of marine plankton that is toxic and often fatal to fish. This natural phenomenon is stimulated by phosphorus and other nutrients that are discharged into waterways by human beings. The colour of the tide can be red, yellow, green or brown. The red tide is caused by the increase in the population of toxic species of plankton, making shelfish which eat them poisonous to humans.

reference period
The reference period of the census was the calender year 2010.Establishment whose accounting year differed from the calender year were requested to report according to the accounting or financial year covering the major part of the reference period.

reference rate of interest
The reference rate of interest (to be used in allocating FISIM) is the pure cost of borrowing funds (i.e. a rate from which the risk premium has been eliminated to the greatest extent possible and which does not include any intermediation services).
