measurement of consumption expenditure

Three common approaches were used to determine the consumption expenditure namely:
(i)  Acquisition approach

Value of purchasing during the acquisition of goods and services without taking into account whether they are fully used or no;or paid in full or not in the reference period. Acquisition was extended to include the estimated value of own production of non-durable  goods and services and those given or received as in kind.

(ii)  Consumption approach

This approach used at certain condition for durable items that having long period (example: car, other user vehicles and carpentry tools) and use utility such as water and electricity.

(iii) Payment approach

Payment that involve advance payment to obtain goods and services where the goods and services have yet received in the reference month (example: advance payment in purchasing car).

The concept of megadiversity involves an estimate of the total number of all the organisms in an ecosystem and is represented by an area that comprises at least 60.0 per cent of the world’s known species.  A major part of diversity is endemism as this reflects the uniqueness of an area.

Merchant wholesalers are those who entitie to the goods they sell, such as wholesale merchants or jobbers, industrial distributors, exporters, importers, co-operative buying associations and petroleum bulk station/terminals. Assemblers, buyers and co-operative associations engaged in the marketing of farm products, scrap metal, waste and junk dealers and yards are included as well.

methods of collection

The Labour Force Survey uses the personal interview method. During the survey period, trained interviewers will visit households in selected living quarters (LQs) to collect information on all household members including their demographic particulars. In terms of field operation, detailed information on labour force particulars is collected from all members of household aged 15 years and over.

Field checks are undertaken to identify and correct any errors or omissions at the time when the survey is conducted. In addition to this, selected households are interviewed again to check the quality of the field work.
