Natural rubber production in November 2019 increased 1.6 per cent year on year

Malaysia's natural rubber production increased 1.6 per cent in November 2019 to 53,019 tonnes as compared to the same month in the previous year. Comparison month on month also showed an increase of 9.3 per cent from 48,528 tonnes, which is recorded in October 2019.

Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber amounted 47,888 tonnes, decreased by 6.2 per cent against 50,600 tonnes in October 2019. The primary natural rubber export destination is People’s Republic of China with a share of 46.7 per cent from total exports in November 2019 followed by Germany (9.5%), Finland (4.2%), U.S.A. (3.3%) and Brazil (2.8%).

Stocks of natural rubber was 216,414 tonnes in November 2019 as compared to 189,085 tonnes in October 2019, an increase of 14.5 per cent.

Average price of Latex Concentrate was 440.55 sen per kilogramme in November 2019, increased by 3.5 per cent as compared to October 2019. Similarly, the average price of Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (S.M.R. 20) also increased by 5.5 per cent to 566.12 sen per kilogramme for the same period.

Total domestic consumption of natural rubber was 40,631 tonnes, a decrease of 3.2 per cent against 41,989 tonnes as reported in October 2019. Rubber gloves industry dominates the use of natural rubber with 30,425 tonnes or 74.9 per cent of the total domestic consumption.
