Total trade for eight states recorded a positive growth with a value of RM178.3 billion in September 2025
- Malaysia’s total trade for September 2025 amounted to RM257.5 billion with exports and imports recording RM138.7 billion and RM118.8 billion, respectively.
- Exports was valued at RM138.7 billion in September 2025, increased RM15.1 billion (+12.2%) as compared to the same month of the previous year. The increase in exports was attributed to the higher exports in Pulau Pinang (+RM11.5 billion), Johor (+RM3.5 billion), Selangor (+RM662.0 million), Perak (+RM135.7 million), Sabah (+RM105.5 million), Negeri Sembilan (+RM99.1 million), Perlis (+RM5.7 million) and Melaka (+RM2.5 million). However, exports decreased in Kedah by RM515.3 million, Sarawak (-RM359.4 million), W.P. Labuan (-RM46.5 million), Pahang (-RM35.5 million), Terengganu (-RM15.2 million), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (-RM7.3 million) and Kelantan (-RM0.7 million).
- Pulau Pinang remained as the top exporter with a contribution of 41.6 per cent, followed by Johor (19.8%), Selangor (15.1%), Sarawak (5.6%) and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (3.7%).
- At the same time, imports in September 2025 increased RM8.0 billion (+7.3%) as compared to the same month in year 2024. The increase in imports was attributed by the higher imports in most states such as W.P. Kuala Lumpur (+RM4.4 billion), Pulau Pinang (+RM2.2 billion), Johor (+RM2.0 billion), Perak (+RM342.8 million), Negeri Sembilan (+RM335.3 million), Sabah (+RM302.9 million), Sarawak (+RM201.6 million), Melaka (+RM117.9 million), Perlis (+RM37.4 million) and W.P. Labuan (+RM36.7 million). However, imports decreased in Selangor by RM739.2 million, Kedah (-RM656.2 million), Terengganu (-RM254.7 million), Pahang (-RM183.8 million) and Kelantan (-RM2.9 million).
- Selangor dominates Malaysia’s imports with a share of 25.1 per cent, followed by Johor (24.2%), Pulau Pinang (22.5%), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (10.3%) and Kedah (4.8%).
