PULAU PINANG, PERAK, W.P. LABUAN, KELANTAN AND PERLIS REGISTERED A POSITIVE GROWTH FOR TOTAL TRADE IN NOVEMBER 2024
- Malaysia’s total trade for November 2024 amounted to RM237.8 billion with exports and imports recorded RM126.6 billion and RM111.3 billion, respectively.
- Exports was valued at RM126.6 billion in November 2024, increased RM5.0 billion (+4.1%) as compared to the same month of the previous year. The increase in exports was attributed to the higher exports in most states such as Pulau Pinang (+RM10.7 billion), Perak (+RM373.5 million), W.P. Labuan (+RM258.8 million), Selangor (+RM46.8 million), Melaka (+RM18.0 million) and Perlis (+RM3.6 million). However, exports decreased in W.P. Kuala Lumpur by RM2.0 billion, Johor (-RM1.9 billion), Kedah (-RM1.0 billion), Sabah (-RM390.2 million), Terengganu (-RM353.7 million), Pahang (-RM262.0 million), Negeri Sembilan (-RM217.7 million), Sarawak (-RM180.3 million) and Kelantan (-RM20.1 million).
- Pulau Pinang remained as the top exporter with 36.4 per cent share, followed by Johor (18.4%), Selangor (17.3%), Sarawak (7.9%) and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (3.8%).
- At the same time, imports in November 2024 increased RM1.8 billion (+1.6%) as compared to the same month in 2023. The increase in imports was attributed by the higher imports in most states such as Pulau Pinang (+RM5.4 billion), Johor (+RM499.2 million), W.P. Labuan (+RM232.1 million), Kedah (+RM158.3 million), Kelantan (+RM57.4 million), Perlis (+RM53.6 million) and Terengganu (+RM52.4 million). However, imports decreased in Negeri Sembilan by RM1.3 billion, W.P. Kuala Lumpur (-RM1.1 billion), Melaka (-RM746.4 million), Pahang (-RM706.6 million), Sarawak (-RM625.8 million), Perak (-RM354.1 million), Selangor (-RM316.2 million) and Sabah (-RM232.3 million).
- Selangor dominates Malaysia’s imports with a share of 25.8 per cent, followed by Pulau Pinang (24.7%), Johor (20.5%), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (8.3%) and Kedah (5.7%).
