Overview
This publication presents statistics on Personal Services and Other Activities obtained from the Economic Census 2023 for reference year 2022. Personal services and other activities encompass Activities of membership organisation; Repair of computers and personal & household goods; and Other personal service activities. 

Overall, the principal statistics of Personal services and other activities in 2022 showed positive annual growth compared to 2015. In 2022, the number of establishments operating in this sub-sector was 64,503 establishments, which registered an annual growth rate of 5.2 per cent over the seven years period. The value of gross output in 2022 amounted to RM9.5 billion, an increase of RM1.4 billion compared to 2015, with an annual growth rate of 2.4 per cent. In line with the growth in gross output value, the value of intermediate input also increased by RM0.7 billion, reaching RM4.9 billion, reflecting an annual growth rate of 2.3 per cent. This resulted in a value added of RM4.6 billion in 2022 (2015: RM3.9 billion).

A total of 135,998 number of persons engaged were employed in this sub-sector in 2022, compared to 113,624 persons in 2015, showing an annual growth rate of 2.6 per cent. During the same period, annual growth rate of salaries & wages grew by 4.9 per cent, reaching RM2.1 billion in 2022 (2015: RM1.5 billion). Meanwhile, the value of fixed assets in Personal services and other activities amounted to RM4.5 billion in 2022 (2015: RM3.6 billion), indicating an annual growth rate of 3.3 per cent.
