The publication of Bumiputera Statistics 2024 presents statistics at national and state level for the year of 2016 to 2024, which covers social and economic fields.
In 2024, the Bumiputera population recorded a growth of 1.1 per cent, reaching 21.6 million.
The male population exceeds the female population, with 10.9 million males compared to 10.7 million females.
The overall sex ratio for the Bumiputera population is 102 males for every 100 females.
The total fertility rate in 2023 increased to 2.1 children per woman aged 15 - 49.
The life expectancy at birth for male and female in 2023 is 72.0 years and 76.9 years, respectively.
In 2023, Pneumonia was the leading cause of medically confirmed, with 11,209 cases, accounting for 14.9 per cent of all deaths.
It was followed by Ischaemic heart diseases (11,181 cases; 14.9%), Cerebrovascular diseases (5,823 cases; 7.7%), Transport accidents (3,050 cases; 4.1%), Chronic lower respiratory diseases (1,601 cases; 2.1%) and Diabetes mellitus (1,407; 1.9%).
The Bumiputera labour force strengthened further by 1.9 per cent to reach 9.8 million in 2023, with 5.9 million males and 3.8 million females.
The labour force participation rate was 67.2 per cent, with males continuing an upward trend at 80.8 per cent, while the female rate fell to 53.4 per cent.
The unemployment rate continued to decrease to 3.6 per cent, with 3.4 per cent for males and 3.9 per cent for females.
In 2023, the number of Bumiputera graduates increased 3.1 per cent to 3.7 million, consisting of 1.6 million males and 2.1 million females.
The graduate labour force participation rate stood at 85.0 per cent, with males at 89.2 per cent and females at 81.8 per cent.
The unemployment rate among graduates also went up to 4.1 per cent, with 3.6 per cent for males and 4.5 per cent for females.
The number of transactions for residential property sector in 2023 saw a decline in the number and value of transactions, with 117,190 transactions valued at RM34.5 billion.
The commercial property sector recorded an increase, with 4,249 transactions worth RM2.3 billion.
