DOSM was honoured to welcome H.E. Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Director General of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), for an official honourable visit to H.E. Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chief Statistician of Malaysia. This high-level engagement served as a strategic platform to strengthen bilateral cooperation, discussing preparations for the 14th Session of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), advancing the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme and exploring potential joint initiatives for the World Data Forum 2026 in Riyadh. Such collaboration reaffirms the importance of robust partnerships in enhancing statistical capacity, talent development and the exchange of best practices among OIC member countries. It also reflects Malaysia’s enduring commitment to regional and global statistical progress. Malaysia, through DOSM, is currently in the process of renewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SESRIC to further strengthen institutional collaboration in strategic areas of statistical development.
This visit underscored Malaysia’s active role in championing data-driven development and fostering international cooperation to build a stronger global statistical ecosystem.
