Malaysia's DIA registered net outflows of RM21.3 billion
In 2018, Malaysia's Direct Investment Abroad (DIA) registered an outflow of RM21.3 billion as against RM24.2 billion in the previous year, mainly due to lower investment in Services sector.
Asia region remained as the top destination for Malaysia's DIA flows with a value of RM24.1 billion, followed by Europe (RM1.2 billion). Within Asia region, Singapore, Indonesia and Turkmenistan were the prominent countries contributing to DIA flows. In terms of sector, Services was the main contributor precisely in Financial and insurance/ takaful activities. This was followed by Mining & quarrying and Manufacturing sectors.
