Overview

Sales value of Wholesale & Retail Trade recorded RM142.5 billion in August 2023, registered a growth of 6.7 per cent year-on-year. The positive growth was contributed by all sub-sectors, namely Motor Vehicles 9.7 per cent, Retail Trade 6.3 per cent, and Wholesale Trade 6.2 per cent. Meanwhile, for month-on-month comparison, sales value grew 2.0 per cent. 


In terms of volume index, Wholesale & Retail Trade registered 5.0 per cent year-on-year to record 152.8 points. The increase was supported by Motor Vehicles 8.7 per cent, Wholesale Trade 6.1 per cent, and Retail Trade 3.8 per cent. As for seasonally adjusted volume index, it went down -0.03 per cent month-on-month in August 2023.
